Chicago, Chi-Town or The Windy City, is home to C2E2. Known for it’s Deep Dish Pizza, hot dogs, sports teams, and rich history I was extremely excited to be going to C2E2 this year. I haven’t been since I was about 13 and have not stayed in the city itself it was an entirely new experience.
Let’s backtrack a bit. When Hutch says “Remember how you wanted to come to all these shows with us? Well, now we need you to go!” There’s only one response “When and where?!” This is how my 2016 started. In a later entry, I’ll take you through the events leading to all this, maybe. I was ecstatic to travel and get away from NYC for a few days. I wanted to see family and friends who I haven’t seen in quite some time and remove one con from the bucket list.
Chicago is and isn’t much of a culture shock. You trade the busy and crowded streets for a city that essentially goes to bed at 2 am, but that was a trade I can make any day. They really get excited for the show too. For NYCC, for instance, they don’t have huge signs up and down main streets and hanging from buildings. I was surprised at how many people I saw walking around with their badges, bags, and cosplays ready for the weekend!
It was my first, but not last time exhibiting at a con and it was a hell of a time. I got to see a lot of my comic con friends and family, some of which I met for the first time in person at the show. Hutch pumped out epic commission after epic commission, the only “down times” were early or later parts of the day. It was a great trip, full of laughs, and many memorable moments. Here are some of my favorite moments:
